Financial Assistance

An important part of M-POWER’s work is financial assistance to needy families in the Birmingham metro area. On average, 100 families contact M-POWER for assistance with utility bills each month. Generally, we are able to assist only 10 to 12 families each month.

To apply for financial assistance
1. Identify the next date when calls will be taken
2. Call 592-8118 beginning at 9:00 A.M. Please do not leave a message. Messages cannot be returned. Please be patient. We will take as many calls as our funding allows.
3. When you call, be prepared by having:
     a.  Valid Alabama driver’s license or other photo ID
     b.   Social Security cards for all residents
     c.  Birth Certificates for all residents
     d.  Copy of lease or deed
     e.  Original utility bill(s)
4. You may be asked to come for an interview.

M-POWER is not able to assist with regular rent or mortgage payments, reconnect charges, or phone bills.
